Iran hosts third international Persian Gulf conference

The third biennial international conference on the Persian Gulf will open at two Iranian universities in Tehran and Hormozgan Provinces on Sunday.
According to IRNA, Hassan Zandiyeh, executive secretary of the conference, said on Saturday that the Persian Gulf is an important and international subject and the conference will focus on the environmental concerns and Iran's ownership rights to the Persian Gulf.
He said: “The conference, which is held every two years, is attended by the researchers, scholars and specialists from the United States, China, France, Britain and Persian Gulf littoral countries.â€
Zandiyeh went on to say that after announcing the conference, about 300 papers were sent to the secretariat, of which 100 were chosen through review for presentation. Oral presentations account for 70 of these papers and the remaining are to be presented as posters.
The official added that foreign theorists and researchers have also sent 15 papers to the event.
The third international conference on the Persian Gulf will be held at the University of Tehran on April 29-30 and at Hormozgan University on May 1.
