The Iranian Handicrafts Union is going to distribute catalogues promoting Persian handicrafts among the delegations participating in the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit, which opened in Tehran on Sunday.
The NAM summit is an excellent opportunity to introduce Iranian traditional art and handicrafts to the foreign guests, the official in charge of the catalogues, Mostafa Khoshabi, told.
A team of experts on Persian handicrafts from the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) have collaborated in preparing the catalogues, he said.
“The catalogues are available in four different languages: English, Arabic, Spanish and Chineseâ€, he added.
Earthenware, miniature, intarsia, embroidery, jewelry, kilims, as well as glassworks, inlaid works and embossed works are some of the handicrafts introduced in the catalogues.
20,000 copies of the catalogues have been printed and will be distributed among the participating members at the summit, he said.
The 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement is scheduled to open in Tehran today and will be running until August 31.
