Tehran, June 7, 2011: Two Iranian films have been screened at the 2011 edition of the Mosaiques Festival of World Culture in the British capital of London.
According to presstv.com, Asghar Farhadi+s Nader and Simin, A Separation and Majid Barzegar+s Rainy Seasons were screened at the Cine lumiere on June 4.
Farhadi+s family drama, which won the Golden Bear Award of the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival, premiered at the 29th Fajr International Film Festival.
The film also won the 2011 Berlinale+s Silver Bears for the entire male and female cast ensemble.
Nader and Simin: A Separation recounts the story of a couple who are getting a divorce, while considering the future of their only child.
Farhadi received a USD 25,000 grant from the Motion Picture Association and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) for the script development of the drama which was assessed as "a beautiful human study of a very normal everyday life, with people in a region who are being challenged all the time by issues social, geographical and financial."
The Hollywood Reporter has predicted the film to be among next year+s foreign language film nominees of the Oscars.
Barzegar+s Rainy Seasons features an intimate, unusual Iranian urban story of a teenage boy who is trapped between his parents+ divorce and his own teenage troubles.
Sponsored by the Institut Français, the Mosaiques Festival of World Culture was launched in 1999 with a special season of films, concerts, exhibitions, and talks focusing on North Africa.
The event that takes place across London in June every year with documentary screenings and free workshops is to embrace, celebrate and promote cultural diversity from around the world.
The 13th edition of Mosaiques will run until June 9, 2011 at Cine lumiere, Rich Mix, Rivington Place and SOAS in London.
