Tehran, May 18, 2011: The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts is slated to host an international exhibition and seminar on fractal art and its influence on Persian art forms.
Tehran, May 18, 2011: The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts is slated to host an international exhibition and seminar on fractal art and its influence on Persian art forms.
The exhibition will present works created in various categories such as digital art, sculpture, photography, batik and illumination, Fars News Agency reported.
According to exhibition secretary Jalil Jokar, a seminar will also be held on the sidelines of the event to discuss fractal geometry and its relation with physics, philosophy and Persian art.
“Fractal geometry is quite adaptable to traditional Persian art forms such as arabesque and can even be felt in classical music,†he said.
Fractal art is a form of algorithmic art created by calculating fractal objects and representing the calculation results as still images, animations, and media.
The word +fractal+ was coined by French-American mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot as a combination of the two words, +fracture+ and +fraction+, in order to describe the regularity in patterns of chaotic behavior of physical systems.
