Tehran, May 18, 2011: Two Iranian productions have been awarded at the 9th edition of Kazakhstan+s Shaken Stars Film Festival held in the capital city of Almaty.
Tehran, May 18, 2011: Two Iranian productions have been awarded at the 9th edition of Kazakhstan+s Shaken Stars Film Festival held in the capital city of Almaty.
Shahram Mokri+s Raw, Cooked, Burnt and Mohammad-Ali Hashemzehi+s Askou received the Best Short Film awards of the event+s short fiction films and short documentary films sections respectively, presstv.com reported.
Mokri is one of the most successful Iranian directors whose films have been screened in numerous national and international festivals. His Limit of Circle received the Bronze Ebensee Bear of Austria+s 36th Festival of Nations.
Ashkan, the Charmed Ring and Other Stories, Dragonfly Storm and Andosi are also among Mokri+s films.
Mohammad-Ali Hashemzehi is best known for his depictions of traditional and regional rituals of Iran+s southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province.
He has made 13 documentaries, including Liko and Nowruz in Baluchestan.
The annual Shaken Stars Film Festival is an international event organized to help young film makers compete and create favorable conditions for their professional growth.
The festival was established in 2003 to honor Kazakh actor and director Shaken Aimanov, who is considered the father of Kazakh cinematography.
The 2011 Shaken Stars Film Festival was held from May 11 to 15, in the Kazakh capital.
