Lors Bring Their Cultural Attractions to Tehran Show

Tehran, July 19, 2011: The Niavaran Cultural Center is hosting the Lorestan Cultural Festival displaying the art and beauty of this province.
Tehran, July 19, 2011: The Niavaran Cultural Center is hosting the Lorestan Cultural Festival displaying the art and beauty of this province.
Provincial cultural festivals arranged during summer vacation in Tehran give citizens the best chance to become familiar with different Iranian nationalities known for their variety of costumes, traditions and food.
The 4-day festival opened here on Monday where the welcome banners written in the Lor dialect were spotted on every corner, MNA reported.
The splendid nomad tents set up on the green grass of the open space of the Niavaran center also attracted the eyes of every passerby.
People of Lorestan are extremely kind and famous for their hospitality. They warmly receive visitors on the first day with their local food and drink.
The tents are also the place where local costumes and handicrafts, including large embossed trays, scarves and curtains, are offered for sale.
A brief opening ceremony was also organized in which Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini, and Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi gave short speeches on the great potential of the province.
Several artists originally from Lorestan including actresses Shohreh Lorestani and Fatemeh Gudarzi, prominent calligrapher Javad Bakhtiari and researcher Farid Qasemi were also honored at the ceremony.
