8/8/2011 Khonya to perform at Swiss event

The Iranian ensemble Khonya is scheduled perform at the Buskers Bern Street Music Festival, which will open in Switzerland on August 11.
The ensemble is planning to reprise its concert “A Night with Khayyam†at the three-day festival, vocalist Pari Maleki, who is also the leader of the band, told the Persian service of ISNA on Saturday.
The concert was performed in Tehran in November of 2010.
Ava Ayyubi, Jalal Amirpursaeid, Behrang Baqaii, Mohammadreza Saki, Bamdad Maleki and Mojgan Rahmani will accompany Maleki in the event.
The Buskers Bern Street Music Festival, which is Switzerland’s largest open-air event, hosted Khonya in 2009.
Over 30 groups will perform over 300 shows in 30 locations prepared for the festival in Berne by the organizers.
Pavarotti disciple to hold workshop in Tehran
The Iranian tenor Mario Taqadossi, who attended several master classes held by Luciano Pavarotti, will be holding workshops in Tehran.
Taqadossi plans to hold workshops for six weeks from September 3 at Tehran’s Keral Academy.
The tenor will discuss different methods of singing and techniques to improve voice during the course.
Mario Taqadossi studied violin and singing in Tehran. He obtained a scholarship from the Iranian Opera Company to study in Los Angeles, after which he attended the famous Juilliard School, where he took part in “Master Classes†held by Sherill Milnes, Renate Tebaldi and Luciano Pavarotti.
At the moment, he is working on Persian classical and folkloric songs. He has already produced a CD with selected pieces from his present work. One of his new CD-Productions is called “WORLD HITSâ€. This Album consists of famous Italian, English and German songs.
He also recorded the opera “La Fanciulla Del West†with Hessischen Rundfunk Orchestra in Frankfurt with Gwenth Jones and Marcello Viotti.
