Tehran, August 8, 2011: Internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami+s two cinematic representations are planned to hit Iranian movie theaters for public screening in near future.
Kiarostami+s Shirin and Certified Copy that have not been allowed to premiere in Iran will be screened after undergoing some modifications, said the films+ distributor Ramin Rahimi, ISNA reported.
“In cooperation with the Cinema Deputy and Monitoring and Evaluation Department affiliated to the Iranian Ministry of Culture, we received the required approval to screen the film in the country,†he added.
He also stated that Shirin has already received the screening license and will be screened in September.
“Certified Copy is also due to achieving the public screening license. It will be granted after a slight modification is made to the hijab of the French actress Juliette Binoche, who starred in the movie,†Rahimi mentioned.
He also noted that, for public screening of Certified Copy, the movie screening rights should be purchased from the copyright owner in France.
Shirin presents close-up shots of the faces of the people who are watching a movie featuring ancient Persian love story of Khosrow and Shirin.
French actress Juliette Binoche, Mahnaz Afshar, Golshifteh Farahani, Niki Karimi and Taraneh Alidousti are some of the cast members of the film.
The prominent director+s other movie, Certified Copy, tells the story of a British writer (William Shimell), who has recently published a book about the value of replicas of art, and a French antique dealer (Juliette Binoche) and their complicated and unclear relationship.
The film competed for the Palme d+Or at the 63rd edition of Cannes Film Festival, where Binoche received the Best Actress Award. It also was awarded the top Golden Spike award at the 2010 Valladolid Film Festival in Spain.
