Tehran, August 8, 2011: Iranian filmmaker and actor Mehrshad Karkhani+s Kuche Melli (National Alley) is set to be screened in the 24th edition of the Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF).
Karkhani+s cinematic production will compete in the main section of the 2011 SIFF.
The movie is also slated to be presented in the Silver Screening Awards section where Asian films and Singapore+s short movies compete, Mehr News Agency quoted the Karkhani as saying.
The film tells the story of two young people who accidentally meet, and later embark on attempts to find a copy of an old movie in movie theaters in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
Written by Arash Borhani and Karkhani himself, the movie was screened at the 29th edition of Iran Fajr International Film Festival, too.
Forty seven-year-old Karkhani started his artistic activities by turning to photography in 1983 and later moved on to other fields such as acting, filmmaking, and scriptwriting. The two movies of Loose Rope and My Sin are his known cinematic works.
The Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) is an annual film event which screens about 300 films from over 45 countries. The 2011 edition of the event is scheduled to be held from September 15 to 25.
