8/23/2011 Busan Filmfest to Screen Iranian Film

Tehran, August 20, 2011: Iranian filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi+s latest production A Cube of Sugar is scheduled to be screened at the 16th edition of Busan International film festival in South Korea.
The festival is slated to hold the event in various sections of Asian cinema, world cinema and new currents that will take place in October from 6 to 14, 2011, Mehr News Agency reports.
The Busan International Film Festival is one of the most important film events in Asia which was established in 1996 in the city of Busan, South Korea.
Karimi+s dramatic comedy recounts the story of a family which lives in an old house in an old Iranian city and depicts their attempts in dealing with different incidents.
At the same times, the film will be screened at the 35th edition of Montreal International film festival in the World Greats Section from 18 to 28 August.
The movie, alongside 382 other movies from 70 countries, is to be screened four times at the Canadian festival.
Reza Kianian, Negar Javaherian, Farhad Aslani and Rima Raminfar are among the cast.
Born in 1966, screen writer and director Mirkarimi has received prizes in several domestic and international festivals.
He won Golden St. George award at Moscow International Film Festival in 2008, Best Screenplay Prize at Asia-Pacific Film Festival in 2001 and Special Jury Prize at Tokyo International Film Festival in 2001.
Under the Moonlight (2001), The Child and the Soldier (2001), So Close, So Far (2005) and As Simple as That (2008) are among his remarkable works.
