Tehran, Sept. 18, 2011: Iran has released the title of films shortlisted as the country+s preliminary nominees for the 2012 Oscar+s Foreign Language Film submission.

Ahmad-Reza Motamedi+s Alzheimer+s, Asghar Farhadi+s Nader and Simin: A Seperation, Bahram Tavakkoli+s Here without Me, Ali-Reza Davoudnejad+s Salve and Rambod Javan+s No Men Allowed were selected to compete for representing Iran at the 2012 Academy Awards.
“The films were chosen from among 60 films which were screened between October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011,†ISNA quoted the Selection Committee spokesman, Amir Esfandiari as saying.
Roya Teimourian, Pouran Derakhshandeh, Mohammad Bozorgnia, Shahram Jafarinejad, Mohammad Davoudi, Ali-Reza Shoja-Nouri, Mehdi Sabbaghzadeh, Rasoul Sadrameli were other members of the Iranian film Selection Committee.
Mehdi Naderi+s Farewell Baghdad represented Iran at the 2011 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
Majid Majidi+s Song of Sparrows and Asghar Farhadi+s About Elly represented at the 81st and 82nd Oscars respectively.
Majidi+s Children of Heaven was also nominated for the 1998 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film is annually given to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the US with a predominantly non-English dialogue track.
The 84th Annual Academy Awards will be held on Februry 26, 2012. Nominations will be announced during the fourth week of January.
