In recent years, Ardal due to expansion has turned into a city, and is one of the smallest cities of the province of Chahar Mahal va Bakhtiyari. It is a place full of natural beauty having cool summers and cold winters.

At the 2006 census, its population was 8,162, in 1,767 families. People maily speak Lurish language by Bakhtiari dialect.
