'Desert Tourism Train' Launched

Raja Passenger Train Company, an affiliate of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, ran its first tourist train branded as “desert tourism train” between Tehran and Kashan in the northern part of Isfahan Province.

“As scheduled, the train leaves Tehran at 6:20 a.m. every Thursday and returns at 10:00 p.m.,” says Reza Asari, an official with Raja. Train tickets will be sold online at www.raja.ir or through other outlets, including 1539 hotline service or official sales representatives. Costing 2.59 million rials ($22.46), tourist train also covers the cost of travel insurance and food services.

Most of the vegetation consists of Halophyte plants such as Tamarix trees, Haloxylon trees and Zygophyllum bushes.
