These mountains are rimose with strange shapes and lack vegetation. Due to their unusual shapes, they have become known as "Martian Mountains" among tourists in recent years they are a special ecological phenomenon and an example of badland.

The port city of Chabahar in south-eastern Iran (Sistan and Balouchestan Province) is home to mountains which are called Martian by locals thanks to their strange looks.
Chabahar (Bandar Beheshti) located in southeastern Iran, on the Gulf of Oman in Makran coast of Sistan and Baluchistan Province. It is the only port with direct access to the Indian Ocean in IRAN.
