The people of the present province of Ilam were nomads with tribal decamping life style thus no city in true sense has arisen. Therefore, most of the Jame' Mosques of the province have been constructed in recent century. Vali Mosque of Ilam may be considered as one of the oldest in the province with 90 years of antiquity. It was constructed by the order of Ilam Vali (Governor) and is named after him. Among the important mosques of the province, some of them have been repaired in recent years, the following ones can be pointed out:
