Within the limits of the province, specially in the rural vicinities, in respect to the lifestyle, and available water resources, a number of water mills are present. In the township of Khomein, there are over 100 of these. The same is unique and interesting from two aspects. One from the point of architecture and mechanism, and the other from the cultural, anthropological as well as from the view of tourism.
These water mills have been constructed in order to use hydropower which was suited with the mode of peoples life in the past. These water mills were permenantly in use, even in winters. When ther was plenty of rain and snow falls, the same were used
for 2-3 months in winters.
