Dar ul-Funun School (a polytechnic), established in 1851, was the first modern university and modern institution of higher learning which marked the beginning of modern education in Iran.
Dar ul-Funun has partly been restored with the aim of making it into a museum on education. Its courtyard houses an atmospheric garden that is hemmed by walls featuring Persian poetry inscribed on decorative tiles.
Iran will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Tehran Music Conservatory on January 17 at Vahdat Hall in the Iranian capital.
