Darbandsar Ski Resort, which was launched in an area of 300 hectares by the privately held company, is the newest ski resort in Tehran province. The Darbandsar Ski Resort was established with the cooperation of ski enthusiast society in 1982 and it is situated at Darbandsar village, along the sides of Mount Seechal in the center of the Alborz Mountains, 60 kilometers to the northeast of
Tehran on the
Shemshak-
Dizin Road.
Darbandsar is a 90-minute drive from Tehran depending on the route chosen and weather conditions. The resort is located 3 kilometers from Shemshak, 10 kilometers from Dizin, 22 kilometers from Mount Tochal, 52 kilometers from Ab Ali resort and 55 kilometers from Mount Damavand.
Darbandsar Ski Resort is located in a village of the same name in the Alborz Mountains of Tehran. The resort opened in 1982 and is currently the second largest ski resort in Iran after Dizin. The ski season in Darbandsar starts from December and usually last until early April.
The Darbandsar Ski Resort is the second choice in the Roodbare Ghasran area, with the lowest point of 2638m and the highest point of 3570m from the sea level and an average annual snowfall of 2 to 4 meters. As Roudbar-e Ghasran area has a diverse climate and very beautiful and unique terrain, summer skiing is also available in July at ‘Taltangeh’, a valley north of Darbandsar.
Darbandsar ski resorts is the second largest in the country, and second most challenging ski resort after
Shemshak Ski Resort. There is plenty of space for backcountry skiing and acclimatization for extreme ski adventures in the Alborz range. It offers a total of 5 ski lifts and chairlifts, 2 hammers, 1 surface and is usually less crowded than
Dizin Ski Resort.
One of the seven ski resorts around Tehran and one of the newest in the country, Darbandsar is said to be the second most challenging resort in the region after Shemshak.
Several International League Championships have been held at the Darbandsar ski resort since 2008, after being recognized as an International Ski Resort by the International Ski Federation (FIS), in which some of the world’s most renowned skiers competed.
There is an ice wall close to Darbandasar called Hameloon Ice Wall where an ice climbing school has been established. The wall offers winter challenges suitable for advanced and beginner ice climbers and has everything from short top-rope problems to long multi-pitch ice. The school holds dry tooling competitions in late August.

The entrance fee of the Darbandsar Ski Resort is variable. The ticket price is 660,000 IRR (3PM-9PM), 950,000 IRR (8AM-2:30PM) and 1,090,000 IRR (8AM-9PM).
